Alma Púrpura nasceu em Lisboa (Portugal) a 19 de Setembro de 1999 e começou como um projecto pessoal, baseado em sonoridades noise e música experimental. O som em si foi-se modulando a ambiências mais obscurantistas, criando uma névoa hipnótica de suspense e medo. A primeira demo-tape foi lançada no próprio ano de formação de Alma Púrpura e é intitulada "Spiritus Provocator". É precisamente aqui onde começa a viagem pelas fronteiras do desconhecido.
